Today proportional solenoid valves have various types, sizes and different capabilities, making them different from each other and suitable for the specific requirement of the various systems.
You may see one valve in some systems and more than one in some systems for maintaining the efficiency of the system. These valves offer a number of functions. That’s why it’s essential to use the correct proportional flow control valve to have the expected performance from the system.
Below we have listed three types of hydraulic valves:
Directional Control Valve:
A directional control valve is used to move the fluid in the right direction. These proportional solenoid valves have the ability to pause and resume the movement of the fluid in the system. They empower the user to easily change the direction of the fluid as per the need. A 2-way directional control valve has only two ports which are known as the inlet and outlet ports. They are widely used in faucets for starting ad pausing the flow of fluid. In a 3-way directional control valve, there are three working ports that are known as the inlet, outlet and exhaust. They are mostly used in single-acting cylinders where the third working port blocks the flow of all the ports. Similarly, they are also 4 and 5-way flow valves that are available in the market and are good for air circuits.
Hydraulic Pressure Control Valve:
The function of the hydraulic pressure control valve is to control the leakage and reduce the risk of a pipe burst. These proportional solenoid valves regulate the precise pressure of the passing fluid and retain that pressure by releasing the excess amount of the pressure. They include pressure-reducing valves, counterbalance valves, sequence valves, relief valves etc. They are found in all hydraulic systems because they perform various essential functions from keeping the pressure low to maintain a constant state of pressure in a circuit.
Hydraulic Flow Control Valve:
These valves are responsible for controlling the flow rate of the fluid or gas. They optimize the performance of the system. These solenoid proportional valves remove the fluctuation in the flow rate of the fluid and maintain a constant flow rate as per the requirement of the user. Examples of these proportional solenoid valves are throttle valves, speed control valves and manifold valves etc.
Flow control valves are the basic necessity of hydraulic systems because they help to control and adjust the flow of the fluid or gas as per the need of the process and optimize the overall performance of the system.
